Broken down teeth
We make sure you are fine to go home and in nearly all cases, you can go back to work and carry on with your day.
Like with anything with anaesthetic, you just need to be careful that you are a bit numb and that you look after that bit until the numbness wears off.
If you are having other treatment where the tooth has come out, we usually have to leave it a little bit of time until we can fill the gap to make things are perfectly healed, but the dentist will talk to you about that before anything is done.

Extractions FAQs
How do you take a tooth out?
We use special forceps to take teeth out. The dentists are very well trained to take teeth out and it usually only takes a few minutes to actually take a tooth out.
Does it hurt?
We give you anaesthetic to make sure it doesn’t hurt. We check all the time that you are ok.
How long does it take?
An appointment is usually half an hour. To actually take a tooth out takes a few minutes when you are numb. We need to make sure that you are fine after too.
Can I work after?
Yes, you can go straight away in most cases. Because you are numb, we maybe wouldn’t advise any big meetings or presentations but you can go back to a regular job. We don’t advise swimming, going to the gym or going for a run on the day. you have the tooth out.
What can I fill in the gap with?
There are few options to replace teeth when they have been taken out. Sometimes right at the back, you don’t need to replace them at all. We can use bridges, dentures or implants to put a tooth in where the tooth has come out. Talk to your dentist about these options before you have the tooth out then we can get planning for you!
